Our creative process

Every commission starts with you: a precise idea, a visual reference, or just a feeling with no shape to it yet. You can start from scratch, or from one of our pieces you'd like to see differently — change a detail, bring two designs together, take something you liked somewhere else entirely. No request is too strange to ask.

When an idea runs into a technical or material limit, we don't stop there: we look for the alternative that keeps its soul, the thing that made you say I want exactly this. It's the kind of work that makes us want to get to the bench.

How a commission works

It all starts with a chat, and the first one is always free.

You tell us the idea, even in rough outline. You can bring images, sketches, visual references, or just words: it all helps us understand what you have in mind and work out together which direction to take, with no commitment.

From there, the process goes like this:

3D Preview

When the project calls for it, before we lay a hand on the metal we build it in three dimensions: you'll see exactly how your piece will look before it even physically exists. Whether it's really needed is something we work out together from that very first chat, and for projects with a specific visual identity this step makes all the difference. It's a paid service, and what you spend here comes off the final quote.

Final quote

The exact quote is given only once the design is finished. With the design approved we can calculate volumes, quantity of material and hours of work precisely, which makes the final figure far more reliable than any ballpark number given beforehand. Material prices move day by day, though, so the quote stays valid for 24 hours: if you need more time to decide, write to us and we'll gladly update it.

Payment and place in the queue

Payment is by bank transfer. The project joins the commissions queue only once the payment has actually cleared.

Prices

The minimum cost for a commissioned piece is around €100–150, but the figure can vary considerably depending on complexity, materials and the time required. Custom work generally starts from a higher bracket than the pieces already on the site, because every project begins from nothing and is built entirely around what you want.

Engraving is always included in the price.

If you need to measure a ring, a ring sizer and a ring stick are available on request and we'll send them to you free of charge.

Who owns the design

Every design we develop in our workshop is to be regarded as an original creation of ours, except when you bring us an already defined project (a drawing of your own, a precise specification): in that case it stays yours, and we're simply the ones making it. Either way, the piece you receive is unique and finished by hand, but we reserve the right to offer the same design again on our own channels or to other clients, with any engraved personal names and dedications removed.

Would you like exclusivity?

If you'd rather that design were never offered to anyone else, you can ask for commercial exclusivity: the surcharge starts at 30% of the final quote and is assessed case by case. For five years from delivery, that design leaves our catalogue and we don't offer it to anyone else. We do keep showing it on our channels as work we've done — that's our portfolio, not a shop window.

If instead you want a piece that is yours alone, for good, we can look at permanent exclusivity: that design never goes back on sale and we don't publish it anywhere, not even as work of ours. It becomes a 1:1 limited edition. It's a commitment that takes the piece out of our portfolio too, so the percentage is higher and we look at it together carefully, project by project.

Timings

Every commission has its own timings, and they're almost always longer than for a catalogue piece: it depends on how involved the project is and on how much work we already have in hand. That's why we don't give you a generic estimate: we write the precise deadline into the quote, before you decide whether to go ahead. And if we can already tell from that first chat that your project needs unusual timings, we say so straight away.
